The 710 Club

Last week we were involved in P&O Cruises’ big announcement that their new brand ambassador is British icon Gary Barlow.

It has now been revealed that the multi-award winning singer’s debut role will be as musical director of The 710 Club on Iona, the brand’s newest ship. She will launch in May this year, and will be the UK’s greenest and most contemporary ship.

Gary is set to make Iona’s intimate music bar the most exciting live music venue at sea by showcasing exciting new young musicians and curating a range of performances curated to appeal to British music lovers.

As part of our commission with P&O Cruises, we filmed Gary as he saw Iona for the first time at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.

We flew a crew out to Germany where Gary was met at the ship by P&O Cruises’ President, Paul Ludlow and Brand Vice President, Rob Scott,  who then gave him the full, awe-inspiring tour. We edited the film in-house and it was graded at Unit Studios.

The film was played out live at last week’s launch event hosted by Fern Cotton and with a special appearance from the man himself followed by an exclusive intimate performance for the gathered travel media.

A variety of edits are now being used online by the brand, and the travel industry. Take a look:

And there’s more to come. In July, Gary will perform at Iona’s naming celebration, which kicks off IonaFest – an exciting new floating festival which will take place as part of a week-long Fjords cruise holiday. The ship will host some of today’s biggest music artists; DJs; TV comedians and entertainers.

And will also join guests on two Iona holidays in 2020 for exclusive performances. All proceeds from tickets sales will be donated to two charities; Child Bereavement UK and Teenage Cancer Trust.
