Alastair Cook visits Waitrose Foundation projects in South Africa
They spent a day filming with captain Alastair Cook as he discovered the impressive work being done by the Waitrose Foundation.
The Foundation was set up ten years ago to improve the lives of the farming community who provide the supermarket’s produce. A percentage of profits is given back to farmers, who then decide on how it is spent.
On a break from his duties as England captain Alastair, his wife Alice and their daughter, one-year-old Elsie, went with our team to visit three grape farms in the Hex River Valley, as well as a number of projects that have been set up with the Foundation’s money. These included a creche, a school and a sports centre, all of which are providing education and support where previously there was none.
