Chance to Dine 2018

This year’s Chance to Dine took place last week. It was our fifth year being involved with cricket charity Chance to Shine’s annual cook off, which takes place in the historic Long Room at Lord’s Cricket Ground.

The famous faces this year taking on the cooking challenge were England cricketer Chris Woakes, former England team mates James Taylor and Monty Panesar, and West Indies legend Gordan Greenidge.

First up was Chris with his Vine Ripe Tomato Bruschetta with homemade pesto and toasted sourdough, followed by Monty’s ‘MasterChef style’ vegetable Biryani. The main course of Jerk chicken breast and thigh with sweet potato mash and chunky roast veg was served up by Gordon and James provided dessert in the shape of a classic Sticky Toffee Pudding with salted caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream.

The food was washed down by wines from the newly launched Ian Botham Wines, and each course was subjected to critiquing from the three judges: Giles Coren, Ed Baines and Tom Parker Bowles. As always, Chance to Shine’s co-founder Mark Nicholas was the evening’s host.

We were there to produce a quick turnaround film of the action from the day for the dinner guests to watch before they cast their votes. At the end of the night it was Gordon Greenidge who claimed the title and was crowned the 2018 champion. Find out more about Chance to Shine’s fantastic work here.
